Article: Success — Christina Mooney – Feb. 20th, 2015

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself, “ (Matthew 22:37-39). What if success in a given day is not checking items off a mental to do list, but connecting with the heart of God and loving people? Often times in our society, we have a nagging pressure to accomplish, succeed, or excel in life. We are pressured to excel toward dreams or acquire more possessions, but for what? What is all this accomplishing? Are we building His Kingdom, or striving to build our own and make ourselves look good? This is the point Jesus was making with Martha when she complained that Mary was sitting at His feet and not helping her make lunch. Jesus responded and said, “… but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42) Often […]

Article: Living Out the Great Commission – Donovan Littlejohn — November 20th, 2014

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen”                                        -Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV I have always been compelled by last words of Jesus to His disciples, and the weight and importance they carry; “Go therefore…”, and the very clear call to action those two words instill. But then the counterpoint to that is seeing how few people actually “Go” from the body. Understand, I am not condemning in any way, shape or form, but hoping to shape a thought based on my own experiences.   Throughout my early years pursuing Christ, the overarching teaching I encountered concerning the Great Commission always made it seem as if this was only and exclusively for […]

Article: Unveiled Unto Transformation — Brandon Sales — July 25th, 2014

I believe that one of the deepest desires inside the human heart is our desire to be more and more like Jesus Christ. In the book of Romans, Paul declares that there are many who God has “predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren” (Rom. 8:29). In other words, God is on a mission in every believer’s life to cause our character, emotions, actions, and desires to be in conformity with Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:3). Because this is a deep desire of God’s heart, I believe all of humanity also carries this desire inside of them, seeing that we are created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26). Besides scripture’s testimony of these desires it would also be easy for anyone to travel into a Christian bookstore to be convinced of the same idea. Every year, dozens of new books are released and millions of dollars are spent purchasing Christian literature highlighting “5-step-methods” on how […]

Article: A House of Prayer — Ian Furgason — April 18th, 2014

“And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, everyone who…holds fast my covenant—these I will bring…and make them joyful in my house of prayer…For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples” -Isaiah 56:6-7 ESV The Lord has been gripping my heart with the reality of these verses. Isaiah is prophesying only a generation or two removed from the glory of David’s tabernacle with the singers and musicians worshiping night and day and he likely saw Hezekiah reestablish this worship at least in part. The land of Judah housed the temple and went through seasons of prosperity in which they reestablished David’s “house of prayer”. The Chronicler tells us how David appointed 4000 singers and musicians to worship before the Ark of the Covenant. We see the heart of the worshiping shepherd boy from Bethlehem on full display as he dons a priestly ephod and dances before the Ark as they ascend the hill […]

Article: Cultivating a Watchful Spirit — Jerry Marek — April 11, 2014

“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” -Matthew 24:42 NKJV Throughout my early years pursuing Christ, the prevailing teaching I encountered concerning the second coming of Christ was very apathetic. My teachers emphasized our inability to know the day of the Lord, while also claiming our energy should not be spent preparing for His coming. Biblically, the call is quite the opposite from what many of my teachers have emphasized. Jesus teaches us to watch because we do not know the hour of His coming. His appearing is most certainly coming! With every passing day this devotion called watchfulness becomes more essential. I for one am contending for the day when it becomes a reality that the majority of Jesus’ disciples are hearing His words and taking great care to obey them. If cultivating a watchful spirit requires us to know His Word, then we must also become a student of the Scriptures. The signs in the earth only point to the coming of Christ in context to the […]

Article: What in the Heavens are Blood Moons? — Gary Wiens — April 13, 2014

What In The Heavens Are “Blood Moons”?  The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. - Joel 2:31, NKJV A fascinating thing is occurring this year on April 15, which is the beginning of the Passover Feast in the Jewish calendar, and October 8, which is the beginning of Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles. The fascinating part is the occurrence of successive “Blood Moons,” or total lunar eclipses. As a matter of fact, there are four “Blood Moons” happening in 2014 and 2015, all on the Feast Days of Passover and Sukkot. These four total eclipses, called a “Tetrad,” occur with some frequency, but only very rarely do they coincide with the Feast Days. The fascinating thing is that every time the Blood Moons coincide with the Feast Days, significant things happen regarding the State of Israel. This coincidental event has only happened seven times since the resurrection of Jesus, and three times in the past 700 years. […]
