Article: Serving Others – Christina Mooney — December 15th, 2014

A dispute also arose among them (disciples), as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. And he (Jesus) said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as one who serves (Luke 22:25-27).” Truly as Christians we are to be like no other people group or religion because we have a God that came near and served us. What a scandal is this, that the Almighty, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, Totally-Other-Than-God of all creation would take on the flesh of His creation and subject himself to death on a cross for our salvation? In Psalms 113:6, the Psalmist proclaims that God is one “Who humbles Himself to behold the things that […]

Article: The Perfection of Beauty – Ian Furgason — Dec. 9th, 2014

For how great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty! Zechariah 9:17 You know what I love about Jesus? Well, a lot of things. But I love how Scripture speaks of Him as the radiance of the Father’s glory, the perfection of beauty that shines brighter than the sun. The Lord has a desire in our day to give us, His bride, a revelation of just how beautiful, how glorious, and how good He really is. He is raising up captivated lovers fascinated with one magnificent obsession—namely Himself.   Beauty is famously defined by Thomas Aquinas as “that which when seen, pleases.” When we think about being captured by beauty our thoughts go to an enrapturing picture of the Alps or the Arora Borealis lighting up the horizon above the northern hemisphere. I’d like to propose that there is an experience of beauty that goes beyond these things. To behold the truly Beautiful is to have an encounter with Goodness so astounding we are dumbstruck in the depths of our souls.[1]   German […]

Article: Unveiled Unto Transformation — Brandon Sales — July 25th, 2014

I believe that one of the deepest desires inside the human heart is our desire to be more and more like Jesus Christ. In the book of Romans, Paul declares that there are many who God has “predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren” (Rom. 8:29). In other words, God is on a mission in every believer’s life to cause our character, emotions, actions, and desires to be in conformity with Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:3). Because this is a deep desire of God’s heart, I believe all of humanity also carries this desire inside of them, seeing that we are created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26). Besides scripture’s testimony of these desires it would also be easy for anyone to travel into a Christian bookstore to be convinced of the same idea. Every year, dozens of new books are released and millions of dollars are spent purchasing Christian literature highlighting “5-step-methods” on how […]
