A Note from Gary Wiens, Director

The Forerunner Internship at the International House of Prayer Northwest is dedicated to raising up generations of believers in the place of pursuing and encountering the knowledge of God. We believe that the prophetic word in the Body of Christ in this hour is to re-prioritize our lives around seeking and getting our hearts and minds settled around one common theme: The knowledge of Jesus Christ.

All around the Christian church in the western world we have emphasized and spent a great amount of energy on training generations on the importance of how to do “ministry” and “church work” correctly while ignoring the foundational tool that the ministry of Jesus Christ flows out of: The condition of the believer’s heart that must be fully given to and consumed by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The Forerunner Internships are intended for those who are interested in immersing themselves within the house of prayer for a 3-month season of their lives, as they give themselves to radically seeking after the Lord. The internship consists of a curriculum that focuses on our four-fold mandate here at IHOP: Intimacy, Intercession, Holiness, and the Second-Coming of Christ. Most importantly, the entire internship is set in the foundational reality of seeking the Lord in the context of night and day worship.

We believe Jeremiah 3:14-15 is the prophetic word of the hour. It is within this scripture that God declares, “Return, O backsliding children… I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” The Lord is raising up messengers of the gospel who have more than just ministry training, but who also have a history of giving their lives over to searching violently for and encountering the heart of the Lord through the place of prayer, worship, and intimate communion.

On behalf of the staff at the International House of Prayer Northwest, we would like to extend an invitation to prayerfully consider giving a season of your life over to boldly pursing the Lord in the House of Prayer.

Grace and peace to you,

Gary Wiens
