What Child is This? | Weekly Thoughts: "God"
Well, at IHOPNW, as of Sunday December 3rd, it’s officially Advent Season for us. Historically this has been an amazing season around our ministry as we have taken the month of December to look closely at the Manger Birth of Christ the Lord. For those that might not know, that word Advent comes from the Latin word Adventus and it means, a moment of preparation for a coming.” Both the first coming and second coming of Jesus are refereed to as Advents, or His first and second Advent.
It really took root in God’s family around the 4th century as the body of Christ would come together from the final Sunday in November until December 25th to worship, stare and gaze at the God who would took on flesh and dwelt among us. This year at IHOPNW we are taking the four weeks of Advent (December 3rd-December 25th) to teach through a series titled “What Child Is This.” Each Sunday we will take time looking at one of these facets to grow in our affection and wonder around the Person of Jesus Christ.
It’s easy to become overly familiar with the Nativity Story and assume we get it. Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt. But this December, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into a new place regarding Jesus’ incarnation. You won’t regret it.
